There is a wireless integrated chip within the handle that picks up radio waves sent out by accuweather. If the odds of rain are almost guaranteed you will get a solid blue light indicating you should not leave home without it. If it is blinking there is only a chance of rain. It costs $125 dollars and the weather forecasting is free. You may also notice the flap at the top of the umbrella, this will keep your spiffy new umbrella from turning inside out on you on the first windy day.
